CMA participates in the GCC capital market disputes arbitration conference

The Capital Market Authority participated in the 18th annual conference of GCC Arbitration Centre under the theme “ Arbitration in GCC Capital Markets Disputes” which was held in Salalah under the auspices of HE Ali Masoud Ali Al Sinaidi, Minister of Commerce and Industry during the period 18-20 August 2013.

 

The conference included papers on the concept of commercial arbitration in the settlement of disputes and how to apply such concepts and creation of legislations and laws  contributing to the financial stability and attracting investments toward GCC stock markets.

 

A number of papers were presented in the conference which was attended by lawyers and legal advisors and  persons interested in securities transactions.

 

Mahmoud Hamoud Al Rawahi, the Exert at the Office of HE the Executive President presented   a paper on the GCC stock markets. He talked about the development of regulatory frameworks of the stock markets and cited statistics on the performance of GCC stock markets and the common features of the regions’ markets stressing the importance of integration of GCC stock markets.

 

Ahmed Sulaiman  Al Qasabi, Director of the Department of Disclosure and Compliance spoke about investment fund and stock markets, concepts and future vision.

 

\He explained the economic importance of investment funds which he said play a great role in mobilization of financial resources toward the economic projects and supporting privatization programmes and expanding ownership in the public works sector through promotion of the shares of the companies offered for sale and provision of financing through pooling savings in addition to the role of the funds in the sound evaluation of securities and improving the sale terms and conditions in favor of the national economy.
