Corporate Governance Committee Reconstituted

The Capital Market Authority has issued administrative decision reconstituting the Corporate Governance Committee based on the resolution of the Board of Directors of CMA dated 31 March 2013 to develop the Corporate Governance Committee. The Committee comprises representatives of public  companies, government companies and family companies.

 

According to the decision the Committee will be chaired by Sayyid Hamid Sultan Al Busaidy, Senior Director of Oman Corporate Governance Centre and the membership of Shaikh Abdulrahman Ahmed Al Harthy, Murtadha Ahmed Sultan, Osama Mohammed Al Barwani,, Ahmed Sulaiman Al Qassabi, Ahmed Ali Al Makhaini and Abdullah Al Awaadi.  Ahmed Humyar Al Abri  will act as secretary of the committee.

 

The decision states that the Committee shall review the Code of Corporate Governance, Code of Corporate Governance for Insurance Companies and preparation of integrated drafts to develop it in line with the current situation and best international  practices and propose the appropriate amendments. The Committee will also prepare guiding manual for corporate governance for government companies and family companies.

 

The Corporate Governance Committee was established in 2008 to evaluate  compliance with corporate governance principles and practices as well as proposing recommendations on upgrading the current standards and application of new standards and practices. The Committee comprises representatives of the public and private sectors and academic and professional institutions.
