CMA Organize Training Programme in Talent Management

The Capital Market Authority continues organizing training programmes for national employees working in the insurance sector. 190 employees benefited from the programmes organized during June  this year.  530  employees benefited from the programmes  organized in 2016 as per new Omanization policy based on empowering Omani cadres working for insurance companies and brokers to take senior and medium positions  not only operational roles. The policy is coupled with  training and qualification in specialized programmes such as insurance and actuary sciences, accounting and commerce etc.

CMA represented by the Directorate General of Insurance  organized the 7th  training programme this year on investment in training and talent management as part on the training series for 2017 which target  national cadres working for insurance companies and brokers which commenced two years ago to  acquaint the national cadres with  technical  knowledge and skills.

 

Talent management is important for  being one of the essentials of human resources management to benefit from the capacities of the employees in the institution. Talent discovery and investment is key role of the human resources department to perform their role in attracting and selecting the employees. The advances in technology contribute to creating new and renewable talents and cultures  that add economic value  to the institutions.

The programme aims to acquaint the participants with the scientific and practical indicators for  the discovery of talent in the institutions and the patterns and types of dormant talent and how to find out and equip them with methods to develop and prepare the talents. Participants will have practical training on how to manage the talents.

It is noteworthy that CMA has commenced execution of these programmes in 2015  and 15 programmes were organized with the participation of 400 employees. In the next year 18 programmes were executed  with the participation of 530 employees working for  insurance companies, brokers and agents. An educational window was opened for CII certification in the Sultanate with the participation of 62 employees in collaboration with the College of Banking and Financial Studies.

The programmes  focus on  issues relating to the development of technical skills, communication, leadership as well as programmes relating to  commerce, accounting, risk management as well as specialized programmes in insurance , claim management, underwriting and other related issues.

Six programmes were organized at the beginning of this year with the participation of 160 employees working in the insurance sector in risk management, Takaful insurance, sales skills internal audit skills, brokerage skills, claims management and settlement.  18 programmes are expected to be executed up to the end of this year.
