CMA Inks MOU with the Securities and Exchanges Commission of Thailand

The Capital Market Authority  has concluded a memorandum of understanding with the Securities and Exchanges Commission of the Kingdom of Thailand for exchange of information and mutual cooperation in Budapest on the sidelines of the 43rd  meeting of the International Organization of Securities Commissions  hosted by the Central Bank of Hungary.

 

HE Sheikh Abdullah Salim Al Samli, Executive President of CMA signed for CMA and Mr. Rapee Sucharitkul,  Secretary General of the Securities and Exchanges Commission of Thailand signed for SECT.

 

The MOU focuses on the  cooperation of the regulators of the capital markets in the two countries in  three main issues namely  mutual development of investment products the key of which is  investment funds, benefiting from Thailand’s experience in investor education and cooperation in corporate governance and best practices in both countries to enhance the regulatory aspect, provide protection for market participants in general and  retail investors in particular  in which the Omani market has an edge.

 

The MOU included enhancing cooperation  and coordination related to their membership in the relevant international organizations, technical cooperation, exchange of  regulatory expertise, exchange of visits by expert, exchange of research and publications related to capital market, training of employees and human resources development  to enhance the legislative and regulatory infrastructure in both countries.

 

The move comes as part of the distinguished relationships between the Sultanate and the Kingdom of Thailand and would boost the cooperation and communication between the markets of the two countries.
