Health Insurance Team Reviews Key Legislative and Technical Issues for Implementation of Dhamani

The Health Insurance Implementation  Teams   held its ninth meeting  chaired by Ahmed Ali Al Ma’amari, Vice President for Insurance Sector and the chairman of the Team  and attended by representatives of  the Ministry of Health, Ministry of Manpower, Oman Chamber of Commerce And Industry, public Authority for Social Security and the Omani Insurance Association.

 

Al Maamari commended the constructive cooperation of the concerned entities pointing out that the scheme has reached advanced levels of readiness in the legislative aspects such as health insurance rules, the standard health insurance policy and  electronic link between insurance companies, private health institutions and the regulators beside finalization of an integrated database on health insurance.

 

The meeting discussed the new developments and the explanatory schedule of the standard health insurance policy and assessed the updating mechanisms executed by the relevant entities as well as reviewing the executions status of the amendments to the Insurance Companies Law and Takaful Law  to accommodate the scheme in addition to the execution of the rules for licensing and regulation of Third Party Administrators (TPAs). The team discussed the  tasks of the  workforce for analysis  and assessment of tenders  submitted for execution of the electronic link for health insurance platform (Dhamani) and the execution of the pricing and treatment services in the private sector and the mechanism for medical coding etc.

 

The team’s work  is part of the joint work between the concerned entities to implement the health insurance  scheme for the employees of the private sector and visitors based on the decision of the Council of Ministers to assign the Capital Market Authority  to prepare the legislative and regulatory infrastructure for the  scheme.
