Cooperation Program between CMA and the Ministry of Social Development for Training and Employment Services for Disables Persons

 

The Capital Market Authority and the Ministry of Social Development have signed a permanent cooperation program for community partnership to enhance and provide training and qualification program for disabled persons within the initiative “Be with us for them” in the areas related to capital  market  and insurance sectors. The move comes to enhance social responsibility to empower the disabled persons and enhance their role in the community through qualifying them and developing their capabilities and competences to support the human and social development.

 

The initiative for support of the holders of Disabled Persons’ Card was introduced during the event. The card is supervised by the CMA in coordination with the insurance companies to provide advantages and special offers for the disabled persons in the Sultanate of Oman.

 

The memorandum was signed at the premises of the CMA to achieve the common objects by creating community partnership for the service of disabled persons in the Sultanate of Oman to enhance the community efforts to integrate them in the community and enable them through special training and qualification programs to develop their competencies in the fields related to CMA’s business and employment needs beside providing job opportunities commensurate with their physical and mental capabilities.

 

The memorandum was signed by HE Sheikh Rashid Ahmed Al Shamsi, Undersecretary for the Ministry of Social Development and HE Sheikh Abdullah Salim Al Salmi, Executive President of the Capital Market Authority.

 

HE the Undersecretary of the Ministry of Social Development said the initiative is an endeavor of the Ministry of Social Development to develop the programs and services rendered to disabled persons and to activate the concept of institutional partnership among the various government, private sector and civil society  entities  to achieve their integration and society development.

 

The Executive President of the CMA stated that the program concluded  today with the Ministry of Social Development is considered as a tremendous opportunity for the disabled persons to develop their skills and knowledge in the fields of accounting, finance, administration and information technology which are all related to the entities of the Capital Market and Insurance sectors.  Additionally, the program enables these entities to utilize the capacities of the disabled persons who have the skills and competencies and are motivated to work and proof themselves capable.

 

On the initiative of supporting the holders of Disabled Persons’ Card, the Executive President praised this step since it reflects the role taken by the insurance companies in achieving social responsibility through supporting and providing special advantages for this important group of the society.  This cooperation between the CMA, Ministry of Social Development and Companies of the Private Sector is considered an important part of the plan to include all the society groups in the developmental programs.

 

 

 

It is worth noting that initiative was initiated  by the CMA in collaborated with  insurance companies and called them to provide special initiative named ”Support the holders of Disabled Persons’ Card” and the companies pledged a package of advantages and offers for this segment of the community. Such advantages include discounts on insurance premiums up to 30% and exemption from payment of the excess on insurance claims in the event of perils as well as discounts on home insurance, travel insurance, loan insurance and health insurance policies.

 

 Nine insurance companies have joined the initiative and specified the advantages offered to this important segment of the community.
