-         Heeding Security and Safety Instructions Mitigates the Impact of Cyclone Tej

-         CMA reiterates warning not to risk crossing the Wadis   

-         Intentional crossing of wadis may forfeit the right to compensation

 

With  the direct impact of Cyclone Tej on Dhofar and Al Wusta Governorates and  the accompanying rainfall expected to range between 50 mm - 300 mm and flash floods and rising sea waves, the Capital Market Authority calls on citizens, residents, property owners, and owners of industrial facilities and shops to take  utmost caution and vigilance and adherence to security and safety instructions during the cyclone in order to preserve the safety of lives and  properties and  follow up  the weather developments via the  warning bulletins  issued by the Civil Aviation Authority and the instructions of Royal Oman Police.

 

The CMA said that heeding security and safety instructions will provide protection for citizens and residents from the expected risks during the cyclone and its direct and indirect impact. This will have a significant impact in mitigating the damage to properties and limiting the losses individuals and institutions might incur.

CMA emphasizes that   the Unified  Motor Vehicle Insurance Policy provides, in the comprehensive insurance,  coverage for damages resulting from natural calamities, including storms, cyclones and flowing wadis, however,  it stipulates that the policyholder must take all reasonable precautions to preserve the vehicle, and not to risks crossing wadis and  adhere to the instructions of the ROP, as intentional crossing of wadis and failure to adhere to ROP’s instructions may lead to the policyholder forfeiting the  right to compensation  if it is established  the damage to the vehicle was caused by intentional act committed by its driver.
