8 June 2026, Muscat, Oman - The Dhamani platform has begun the phase of electronic integration with pharmacies. This enables the digital referral of electronic prescriptions (e-Rx) for health insurance claims directly and securely between private healthcare facilities, pharmacies, and insurance companies via the platform. This contributes to faster procedures, improved service efficiency, simplified patient journeys, and an enhanced beneficiary experience.

This milestone coincides with the launch of the Phase II of the Dhamani project, which has seen the actual expansion of electronic integration with pharmacies, reaching around 60% connectivity. The pharmacies registered on the platform has reached 271, reflecting the accelerating adoption of digital transformation in the pharmacy sector and strengthening integration across the health insurance ecosystem, thereby supporting healthcare and insurance service efficiency and reinforcing Oman’s direction towards building an integrated digital health insurance system.

The new service aims to enable pharmacies to receive prescriptions electronically without the need for paper documents, by sending prescriptions digitally from healthcare facilities to pharmacies. This ensures faster access to services, reduces time and effort, and improves the quality of experience for insurance policyholders.

The platform also enables the exchange of digital transactions between pharmacies, insurance companies, and healthcare providers, including approvals, financial claims, and settlements in a secure electronic manner. This reduces reliance on traditional paper-based procedures by up to 98% and enhances operational efficiency across the healthcare and insurance system.

This achievement represents a qualitative shift in digital integration among healthcare providers and reflects the Sultanate of Oman’s commitment to adopting the latest technological solutions in the health insurance sector, strengthening its position as one of the regional and international leaders in digital transformation of health insurance.

The Phase II of the project represents the first fully integrated digital journey of its kind in the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) countries. It begins with the issuance of prescriptions from healthcare facilities, followed by their direct referral to pharmacies, patient receipt of medication, and finally financial claims processing and settlement of pharmacy dues via the Dhamani platform in a digital process without any paper-based transactions at any stage.

The Dhamani platform continues its efforts to develop the digital health insurance ecosystem by providing innovative digital services that enhance efficiency in the health insurance sector, strengthen integration among all stakeholders, and deliver added-value to insured individuals, healthcare providers, and insurance companies.
