The Financial Services Authority (FSA), in collaboration with the Public Prosecution, held a specialised programme titled 'Investigating Money Laundering Crimes via Cryptocurrencies and Methods of Analysis and Tracking.'
This was brought with the aim of building capacity, enhancing awareness among specialists, and enabling them to address emerging patterns of money laundering crimes associated with the use of cryptocurrencies, thereby contributing to improving the efficiency of regulatory procedures.
It was delivered by Khalfan Al Maawali, Assistant Public Prosecutor, who reviewed key concepts related to money laundering crimes involving cryptocurrencies, in addition to the methodologies of analysis and tracking used to detect and trace suspicious transactions.
The workshop also addressed the challenges faced by law enforcement agencies in this field, as well as international best practices in handling digital evidence, enhancing the effectiveness of investigations and contributing to the protection of the financial system.
It forms part of a series of initiatives implemented by the FSA in collaboration with relevant entities, aimed at developing national competencies and enhancing readiness to keep pace with the rapid developments in the financial sector.
