The Financial Services Authority (FSA), the Muscat Stock Exchange (MSX), and Muscat Clearing and Depository (MCD) are taking part in Khareef Dhofar 2026 through an interactive public awareness initiative titled ‘Safe Investment Journey’, taking place from 25 July to 2 August at Gardens Mall in Salalah, Dhofar.
It aims to enhance financial literacy and investment awareness by equipping members of the public with the knowledge and principles needed to make informed investment decisions based on reliable information and by encouraging them to deal only with licensed entities.
The initiative reflects the close collaboration between the three enterprises in delivering an innovative awareness experience that goes beyond the traditional exhibition stand. Visitors are taken on an immersive journey that mirrors the real-life investment process, beginning with the fundamentals of investment awareness and the steps involved in obtaining an investor number. The journey then progresses through exploring investment opportunities and products, verifying licensed entities, monitoring portfolio performance and investment returns, before concluding with making well-informed investment decisions based on knowledge and professional guidance. The experience is designed to promote safe investing while reducing the risks associated with unsound investment practices.
The journey wraps up with the ‘Meet the Financial Adviser’ station, representing the role of licensed securities firms. This station gives visitors the opportunity to meet industry specialists and receive investment guidance and educational advice to help them invest with greater confidence and awareness. The service will be available daily throughout the event, enriching the visitor experience by providing direct access to professional expertise and answering investment-related enquiries.
The pavilion also features a dedicated children's area offering a daily programme of educational and interactive activities led by specialists in children's literature. The programme includes storytelling sessions, educational games, colouring activities, competitions and hands-on workshops that combine learning with entertainment. These activities are designed to introduce financial and investment concepts in a simple and engaging way, strengthen financial awareness, and develop children's decision-making skills in an age-appropriate manner.
The children's programme reflects the participating commitment of enterprises to instilling financial literacy from an early age through interactive educational activities that help nurture a generation with greater financial awareness, a stronger understanding of saving and investing, and a more responsible approach to financial management.
The participating enterprises emphasised that promoting financial and investment literacy is a fundamental pillar in building a more efficient and sustainable capital market. They noted that improving investor awareness strengthens confidence in the market, reduces investment risks, and reinforces the principles of transparency and responsible investing, thereby supporting the goals of Oman Vision 2040 to further develop the non-banking financial sector and enhance its contribution to the country’s economy.
