The Sultanate participated in the 5th meeting of the ministerial committee of boards of GCC capital markets regulatory entities that was held in Kuwait. The official delegation was headed by H.E Yahiya Al Jabri, Chairman of CMA and Executive President of Special Economic Zone of Duqum, H.E Sheikh Abdullah Al Salmi, Executive Presdent of CMA, Mohammed Al Rashdi, Director of Legal Affairs Department, and Badr Al Mahrooqi of CMA’s Executive President’s Office.
The meeting discussed a number of subjects among which was a summary on the economic decisions taken by the High Council in its 34th meeting, and the significant developments of the MOU between the regulatory bodies in the GCC countries.
The meeting also went through the General Secretariat’s report on the unified rules and principles for the capital markets’ integration that some of them have been approved previously by the High Council for reviewing and mandatory enforcement. The meeting also discussed the recommendations proposed by the Committee of Capital Markets Heads or equivalents in GCC countries of its 10th meeting in May, 2014 and its 11th meeting in September, 2014.
GCC capital markets are working for unifying views on regulations and rules regulating capital markets and achieving integration among Gulf markets consisting with the common requirements of the Gulf markets that aim to enable normal and juridical GCC citizens to trade in shares and establish companies at any member country, and to consider all citizens alike.
