CMA’s Delegation Acquaints with the Saudi Capital Market Authority’s Experience in Global Indices and Enhancing Governance
HE Abdullah Salim Al Salmi, Executive President of the Capital Market Authority presided over an official delegation representing the capital market institutions in the Sultanate of Oman in a visit to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia to acquaint with the Saudi experience in global indices and enhancing governance.
HE Mohammed Abdullah Elkuwaize, Chairman of the Saudi Capital Market Authority met, at the premises of the Saudi CMA in Riyadh, HE the Executive President in the attendance of the Chief Executive Officer of Muscat Stock Exchange, the General Manager of Muscat Clearing and Depository Company and a number of officers of the CMA.
The visit comes within the cooperation between the Saudi and Omani capital market regulators for the exchange of expertise and proposals about the capital markets in the region. The meeting discussed cross border registration of financial services between the two countries, and the Kingdom’s experience related to Central Counter Party as well as enhancing trading via the internet through the services offered by the financial institutions licensed by the CMA.
The Omani delegation also reviewed the CMA’s initiatives related to enhancing governance in the listed companies in general as well as institutionalization of investors’ relations in the listed companies and the initiatives related to small and medium enterprises specifically the financing opportunities through offerings and listing in the parallel market and the Saudi CMA’s experience in joining a number of global indices which enhanced foreign investments and attracting liquidity to the Saudi market in addition to other matters of common interest.
