Workshop on Basics of Investment in Securities
The Capital Market Authority organized a workshop on the basics of investments for the public and beginners investors to disseminate financial and investment culture and increase awareness of securities as part of the CMA’s strategy to raise the public awareness of investment instruments and savings.
The workshop was presented by Ali Al Lawati an expert in the field of securities. He talked about the concept of investment in securities and its importance in increasing the income of the individuals, the role of securities markets in stimulating the economic movement, national participation in investment opportunities, employing the savings, attracting foreign capital to provide for financing options to meet the needs of sustainable development projects whether for the private or public sector as well as the mechanism for investment in securities and the inherent risks. The workshop dealt with safe steps to be followed to enter in the investment world.
He pointed out to the role of the CMA in regulating and supervising the securities sector and investor protection to ensure safe investment environment for the investors to take informed decisions as well as updating the regulations to cope with the continuously evolving investment products.
The workshop comes within a series of awareness workshops organized by the CMA to acquaint the public with the role of the capital sector in the service of economic development programs. An advanced workshop on reading the financial statements will be organized shortly.
