The Capital Market Authority organized a training program titled ”Compliance, Corporate Governance and Risk Management” in collaboration with the Association of Arab Securities Commissions yesterday at the Sundus Rotana Hotel Muscat and continues until Tuesday under the patronage of Mohammed Said Al- Abri, Vice President for Capital Market and attended by HE Jalil Tarif, Secretary Genera of the Association of Arab Securities Commissions.
The programs aims to acquaint the participants with the concepts of compliance, corporate governance and risk management, and the role of the regulators and supervisors of capital markets.
The program highlighted a number of relevant issues from the point of view of the regulator.
The program targeted employees of capital market institutions especially the workers of surveillance, disclosure, listing and enforcement departments and the employees of stock exchanges, the depository and other entities such as financial intermediaries, financial institutions and banks.
The program focused on three topics namely compliance, the concept and the role of the regulator in enhancing compliance and the risks of non-compliance. The second topic was corporate governance which included a historical briefing on the development of corporate governance, principles and the importance of corporate governance. The third topic was risk management including the concept of risk management and risk bases supervision, offsite surveillance and onsite inspection.
It is noteworthy that CMA has organized last year, in collaboration with the Association of Arab Securities Commissions, two training programs on financial derivatives and inspection in capital markets as part of the Association’s training plan for the year 2018 under the strategic plan for capacity building through training programs and transfer of knowledge among the members to enhance basic knowledge of the systems and practices related to the financial derivatives and commodities derivatives, markets where derivatives are traded and investment strategies in derivatives.
