The Capital Market Authority represented by the Directorate General of Insurance Supervision organized a training programme on the Legislations of Insurance Industry for 38 participants working for insurance companies.
The three day programmes for national cadres covered topics such as unified motor insurance policy and the code of corporate governance.
On the importance of the programme Rashid Mohammed Al Rashdi, Director of Requirements and Licensing Insurance Institutions said the CMA assumes supervision of the insurance industry anad endeavor to develop and promote the industry and enhances Omanization and enabling plans.
He added that the development of human resources is strategic dimension and national objective as the investment in human resources is the main mover of progress. CMA seeks to enhance the qualifications of national cadres through training programmes in collaboration with colleges and institutes in Oman and abroad in topics such as insurance, reinsurance and actuarial sciences.
He emphasized that the programme on insurance legislation was specially designed for the employees of insurance companies to enhance the proficiency and to enable them to apply best international practices in their work environment.
He concluded that more training programmes will be organized in September, October and November.
On the objects of the programme Mr. Yousuf Darwish the Lecturer of the prgramme said the programme is designed to explain to the employees of the insurance sector the importance of the legislature and how the employee would perform this role by rendering the service to the client. He added the programme covers several technical and administrative aspects, corporate governance, the communication between the employees and the board of directors.
Ahmed Harith Al Nabhani, a participant from Oman Takaful said the prgramme was useful in explaining the insurance legislations and will apply it in the work place. He thanked CMA for offering such programmes and training for the employees of the insurance sector.
Mohammed Ali Al Awaisi from Falcon Insurance said the programme was useful and we hope CMA will deliver more programmes to acquaint the employees with the insurance industry.
