Securities Sector Organize Shares Venture Workshop “Smart Investor”
To disseminate the culture of investment in the securities markets and sound ways of investment in the sector to strengthen correct investment skills for minors, the institutions operating in the field of securities represented by the Financial Services Authority (FSA), Muscat Stock Exchange (MSX) and Muscat Clearing and Depository Company (MCD) held Shares Venture Workshop “Smart Investor” in collaboration with Oman Across Ages Museum for school students at ages 9-14 years.
The workshop included a number to topics to acquaint the participants with the institutions operating in the securities sectors in the Sultanate of Oman and bests ways of saving and investment.
The workshop covered the concepts and the phases of investment and how to choose the shares, determining investment objects, planning for saving in addition to the investment strategies namely diversification, buying and holding. The students were also informed about the investment opportunities in MSX, methods of buying and selling through brokers. The workshop included interactive activities for children such as investment simulations to convey the message smoothly.
Ahmed Eisa Khamis Al Ghafri, a participant in the workshop said “I have interest in investment, I read about the capital market sector and the workshop added useful information and corrected many concepts, I plan with my father to start a saving and investment plan.”
It is noteworthy that such workshops are organized to raise awareness and enhance cooperation among the securities sector institutions for a generation that is aware of sound methods of investment and saving to protect individuals from fraud which is widespread recently.
