The Capital Market Authority is gearing up to organize a comprehensive awareness programme in Salala  on the insurance sector during the period 25-28 August 2014.

The events will commence on Sunday 25 August 2014 with the first awareness seminar at the Salalah Hilton under the auspices of HE Sheikh Salim Aufit Abdullah Al Shanfari, President of Dhofar Municipality. The topic of the seminar which targets employees of government institutions will be “Importance of Insurance for Individuals and Institutions”.

The second seminar will be organized at the Oman Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Salalah Branch under the auspices of HE Sheikh Abdullah Salim Mahad Al Rawas, Chairman of  Oman Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Salalah Branch which will be for businessmen and all members of the chamber.

A qualification programme will follow for the employees of the insurance sector in the Governorate of Dhofar to enhance their skills in the technical and administrative works  which would have positive impact on the services provided to the customers. This two-day event will take place at the Salalah Garden Mall Hotel.

On the importance of the programmed Mr. Ahmed Ali Al Maamari, Acting Director of Insurance Supervision said “ The programme is organized to instill the insurance culture in the community and to introduce the basic principles of insurance and legislative aspects governing the insurance business. We also attempt to confirm that dealing with insurance products is a means for security and reassurance on conducting any business or activity whether for individuals or businesses.”

He added that purchasing an insurance cover is essential for many activities not only a mandatory procedures for vehicles as many people think. He pointed out the insurance cover is an intangible services unless the insured is exposed to risk then he will be aware of the importance of insurance and its role in mitigating the risks. Such concepts must be clear to the public which we endeavor to do  benefiting  from  gatherings such as the Salalah Kharif Festival to communicate the message.
