In continuation of the training programmes in insurance for 2016 The Capital Market Authority concluded this week the training programmes for the employees of the insurance sector at the Gardens Hotel in Salalah under the auspices of Ahmed Saleh Al Marhoon, Director General of Muscat Securities Market and the attendance of a number of officers of the Directorate General of Insurance Supervision of the CMA.
Two training programmes were organized this week, the first was a two day advanced programme on underwriting and portfolio management with the aim of acquainting the participants with the underwriting applications commensurate with the underwriting strategy of the insurer, design and organization of the company’s portfolio to be sustainable and balanced, and to learn about the pricing mechanisms appropriate for the business of the company, and to show the role of reinsurance in drawing the company’s policy. The participants were acquainted with how to apply the operational applications of underwriting operations of the insurers. The programme targeted medium and higher technical management of those who directly work in the management of underwriting.
The second programme was a three day programme in introduction to insurance with the aim of acquainting the participants with the insurance concept and importance to improve the performance. The programme tackled risks, insurance, legal principles of insurance, risk underwriting, the components of insurance market and the need for documentation. The programme targeted the employees who have 3 years of experience and the new employees.
CMA attaches great importance to the training of the national cadres to achieve the visions and to create national competencies able to the take leading managerial and professional positions equipped with the required skills and knowledge in its plans to enable the national carders. 15 programmes were executed last year. 400 employees were trained in the various levels at 26% of the entire employees working the sectors. This year 15 programmes are planned and so far 9 programmes were executed in accordance with a well- considered training plan.
