05 July 2026

News

5 July 2026 — Muscat, Oman: The Financial Services Authority (FSA), in collaboration with the University of Technology and Applied Sciences (UTAS), wrapped up the ‘Promising Investor’ programme. It ran for two weeks and targeted school students to promote financial literacy among young people and enhance their knowledge and skills in money management, saving, investing and financial planning.

The closing ceremony was held under the auspices of Ahmed bin Ali Al Mamari, Executive Vice President of the FSA, and attended by Dr Khalid bin Salim Al Abri, Assistant Vice Chancellor at UTAS — Muscat branch,  together with officials, lecturers and parents of the participating students.

Speaking at the ceremony, Abdullah bin Salim Al Rabaiei. Director General of Institutional Development Unit at the FSA said that investing in the financial awareness of young people is an investment in the nation’s future. He noted that promoting financial literacy among younger generations is one of the key pillars for building a more financially aware society capable of making informed financial decisions. He added that the Promising Investor programme was designed to provide an educational experience that combines knowledge with practical application, helping participants develop sound financial concepts through an interactive approach aligned with young people’s aspirations and future needs.

The programme brought together 60 male and female students from across the Sultanate of Oman, who were selected based on specific criteria. Participants attended a series of training workshops and practical sessions covering personal budgeting, saving tools, investment fundamentals, long-term financial planning, risk analysis and financial market simulations. The programme also introduced participants to modern investment tools and techniques and guided them in developing a comprehensive personal financial plan under the supervision of a group of specialists and experts from the financial sector.

The ceremony featured a video presentation highlighting the programme’s key milestones, activities, workshops and interactive sessions, reflecting the high level of engagement and enthusiasm demonstrated by participants throughout the programme.

The Promising Investor programme forms part of the FSA’s initiatives to promote financial literacy and instil sound financial management principles among school students, contributing to the development of a financially aware generation equipped with the knowledge and skills required to make responsible financial decisions and build a more sustainable economic future.
