The Capital Market Authority hosted Medium and small enterprises entrepreneurs from the Governorate of Dakhliyah who were in a tour organized by Oman Chamber of Commerce and Industry during the period 27-28 August 2013 to support the entrepreneurs and to introduce the services offered by the institutions and sectors supporting SMEs.
CMA organized a lecture on the capital market sector and its importance to the economy delivered by Mahmoud Hamoud Al Rawahi, Stock Markets’ Expert at the Office of HE the Executive President who explained the role of stock markets in the national economy as a source of liquidity required to institutions and companies and a tool for stimulating foreign investment and enhancing the confidence in the economy. He talked about investment instruments and how to deal with them. He explained the mechanism enabling SME’s to benefit from capital market sector through increasing the capital of the institution to not less than RO 2 million so as to qualify for conversion to public joint stock company and offer part of the capital for public subscription.
Al Rawahi reviewed the regulatory and legislative role of CMA as well as the disclosure and transparency for being one of the main elements that enable the investor to take sound investment decision.
The visit included acquaintance with trading by Raid Al Hoti, Director of Information and Awareness Department of Muscat Securities Market.
